Net proceeds from our June 18, 2022 event will benefit debt repayment from construction of a new multi-purpose Arena, replacing the old one destroyed in Spring, 2018 due to a roof collapse from heavy snow. Our event also supports local agricultural producers through raised awareness of our Farmers’ Market as well as promote health & wellness and volunteerism in our rural community. Both donations and sponsorships, including goods and services, are welcomed and appreciated. Recognition for sponsorships can include social media brand recognition, brochures/pamphlets in our race packages, banners and/or displays at the Farmers’ Market finish line, website logo’s clickable through to your site, naming rights for aspects of our race and/or any custom ideas you might request. We would love to talk to you. If you would like more information/details, contact us at millarvillefarmershalf@gmail.com or 403-931-3411.
For June 18, 2022, we anticipate 800 overall, combined registrations, for the half marathon, 2-person half marathon relay and the COBS Cinnamon Bun Run 8-Miler. Our surveys indicate the average participant brings another 1.5 spectators to the Millarville Farmers’ Market finish line. Additionally, the average, non-race related, opening day attendance at the Farmers’ Market is about 1,500. So, roughly 3,500-4,000 at the Racetrack on race day. For the previous four years of operations, registrations for our event have averaged 70% female. Thirty-two percent of our registrations are between the ages of 30-39, another 27% are between the ages of 40-49 and 19% are between the ages of 50-59. About 56% of our registrations are from Calgary with the rest from the local area. We also have large contingents from Edmonton, Lethbridge, Red Deer, Airdrie, and Medicine Hat. A recent Running USA survey found that, on average, 68.5% of half marathoners are married, 92.1% have a college education and 60.2% have an income greater than $100,000. Half marathon is the fastest growing distance event in North America and there are now more Half Marathon finishers than 10 KM finishers.
